Lancaster SCORE Donates to Duke Street Business Center

April 12, 2010

The Duke Street Business Center of the Lancaster Public Library System is a critical resource available to SCORE Lancaster clients. With guidance from Rhonda Kleiman, Economic Development Manager, and Diane Pawling, Business Reference Librarian, clients access a wide and deep assortment of online and print resources for their business and marketing plans. Clients can research customers – who, how many, where, buy what; buy how much – their demographics and lifestyles. Or research competitors – who, how many, where, sell what, sell how much.  Or research industries – size, products and services, financial models.

SCORE Chairman Glenn presents $1,000 to Duke St. Business Center's Rhonda Kleiman

For emerging and existing entrepreneurs, the Duke Street Business Center is a conduit to information that drives good decision-making.  Few SCORE clients pursue ‘new-to-the-world’ ideas.  Well, if somebody is already doing it, let’s learn from them.  Let’s identify and adopt best practices, try to avoid mistakes, and plan realistically. Let’s determine how the client’s value proposition differs from the competition.  Let’s gather information that leads to an effective SWOT analysis. The Business Center facilitates that research and analysis … all for the cost of a library card!

Buffeted by budget cuts at the local and state levels, the Business Center is struggling to maintain core services for entrepreneurs. To help – to put our money where our mouths are – SCORE Lancaster recently donated $1,000 to the Business Center on behalf of past, present and future clients.
