SCORE, the largest national network of business mentors – 364 chapters, 13,000 volunteers — was created by the U.S. Small Business Administration in 1964 to help emerging and existing small businesses. In Lancaster, more than 50 SCORE mentors — business executives and owners, working and retired – volunteer their expertise, experience and insight on every aspect of business. Most SCORE services are free… including individual, confidential mentoring… and accessible to all.
Since 1965, SCORE Lancaster offered business education programs for start-ups and existing businesses. SCORE’s Simple Steps® business planning series offers an introduction to business planning and formation, including legal structure, marketing and finance. Entrepreneurs already engaged in business planning may participate in SCORE’s more extensive Kauffman FastTrac® program. Participants and their coaches work on all aspects of the entrepreneurs’ business plans. They complete detailed feasibility assessments leading to go-no go decisions. FastTrac, from the prestigious Kauffman Entrepreneurial Foundation in Kansas City, is designed specifically for entrepreneurs. For more information, contact SCORE Lancaster at 717-397-3092 or via email at email@example.com.
To assist existing businesses, SCORE Lancaster offers mentoring and business education programs, including business plan reviews, business roundtables, advisory boards [similar to a free Board of Directors] and tailored workshops on marketing, finance and business management. Whether answering a single question or helping design business strategy, SCORE mentors can help entrepreneurs already in business.
